How To Borrow From The Boys And Make It Your Own

by

One of the things I love about fashion is the fact that you can get creative — mixing high-street with designers, vintage and modern, minimalist and graphic, going from classic American to Euro chic, from preppy to rock n’ roll — based on your current mood and personal style.  There are endless possibilities!

One of my favourite fashion tricks, as you probably all know, is borrowing from the boys.  The trick to getting the look right is balance.  The cargo shorts, for instance, is a summer staple at the boys’ department.  Big and bulky, it’s probably the last article of clothing any woman would want to own as nobody wants to have that added ‘volume’ to their hips.  But this doesn’t mean we cannot adopt them into our wardrobe.

Check out how this girl rocked the cargo shorts:

Pulling the cargo-shorts looks is not as complicated as you think.  The equation is quite simple:

A dainty tank top + Cargo shorts + Stacked-heeled sandals + Interesting purse

A dainty tank with lace and/or embroidery balances out the stocky, boyish cargo shorts.  A tank top in light, gauzy cotton
that is loose and breezy is perfect for that easy, effortless style.  Cinch the shorts on the waist with a belt and
add a pair of stacked-heeled sandals in metallic or brights or prints for that feminine city chic look.  Stacked heels are preferred
than stilettos to avoid looking tacky.  Lastly, finish off the look with the right accessories — an interesting purse and a pair of sunnies.
